Hello Constantine, I just wanted to say hello and to let you know how much I appreciate and enjoy your podcasts with Kitty Martone. The Chinese Skullcap you are referring to is Baical skullcap - Scutellaria baicalensis. You may know about the herb doctors who used to do the monthly radio show with Ray Peat. They are based in California and you may want to reach out to them anytime you are interested in some good quality herbs. https://www.westernbotanicalmedicine.com/. It's great to come together as a community :)
Hi Constantine 😊 another fabulous article. Quick question regarding PC and its use in improving surfactant levels; could this supplement have the potential for those suffering with lifelong debilitating 'eczema'? I use this term lightly in the specific case of my mother who was told from the age of 6 that due to genetics, her sweat glands simply didn't form properly and her skin cannot breathe. She interestingly also suffers from lifelong asthma (also requires regular use of inhalers and occasionally a trip to the nebuliser) and wondered if a surfactant issue could show up in the skin. (Estrogen, histamine etc are certainly involved for her too) Would love your thoughts on this 😊 Regards, Natasha
To be honest, I'm not sure how PC would affect the skin. PC makes up the majority of lung surfactant but I don't know about how that translates into skin currently. I briefly mention eczema at the end of this article: https://constantinek.substack.com/p/adult-and-teen-acne
And I thought MY supplement bins needed their own room in the house. haha THANK YOU for this article! I'm 61 and my "late-life asthma" progression came to a head last night. My biggest allergen problem (skin prick test) showed dust mites to be my biggest issue. We can't keep the dust down because... dogs. Anyway... ended up in Urgent care and got on another round of steroids... bleck! Was feeling hopeless that Adv-air or the like was the next step. BUT I found this article and have hope that there is a way I can avoid that for a little longer. THANK YOU. ...running to the cupboard with my list from Constantine's article...
I couldn't find any information on the MitoLipin product you mentioned. The ingredients aren't shown and the website doesn't even say its PC. I appreciate your insight.
What dosage do you recommend starting with? What did you personally start with? Don't worry, I won't take as medical advice:) In the middle of the podcast and very excited to try PC and other things! I've struggled with wheezing/asthma for 5 years, after my 4th child was born, tried lots of things that have helped or not but nothing has completely solved!
I just personally followed the instructions of whatever product I got. So for example, Thornes PC product says take 1-3 a day I believe. So I would take 1 capsule 3x a day for a while. Typically I take 1-2 a day currently

Hi,
Thank you for sharing this!

You can find information on MitoLipin here: https://raypeatforum.com/community/threads/mitolipin-liquid-saturated-phosphatidylcholine-pc-mix.10398/
But if you are using PC for asthma, you may be better off getting another product which can offer higher doses.
